UPC Local Division: Claim Interpretation
The patent in suit relates to arrangements in wireless networks. In particular, it relates to a method and a device for high-speed processing of protocol headers in an intermediate and/or destination node of a packet-based communication network. When interpreting the patent claim, in addition to the wording, the description of the application and explicit disclosures in the description of the patent specification must be used. Functionally, in addition to the described reception operation, it would be necessary for the patent-compliant DMA device to be able to enable the described storage operations, namely the simultaneous storage in the packet buffer memory and the layer-specific memories. This requires a memory interface that contains control logic in the form of programmed registers or channels, which enables the targeted writing of data to the destination locations in the memory. However, the attacked embodiments do not make use of this (LK Hamburg 19. 2. 2025, UPC 58/2024).
