Matthias Brunner is a partner at SONN. His areas of activity focus on the preparation of patent applications and on patent prosecution and opposition proceedings for domestic and international clients, in particular European and US companies. His field of activity also includes intensive search work, including searches relating to infringements of property rights (freedom-to-operate searches). Matthias Brunner has many years of experience in basic research. He has a special interest in inventions in biotechnology as well as in biopharmaceuticals and vaccines, bioinformatics, food technology and in medical technology.

Matthias Brunner graduated in molecular biology at the University of Vienna. Subsequently, he obtained a doctorate at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) and the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna. Prior to his studies he gained initial practical experience as a software developer with an IT company in Liechtenstein.
